Go Unafraid (with Bozoma Saint John)

Episode 14

About the Episode

This week on Professional Troublemaker, we’re diving back into our archives and re-sharing some of our interviews with epic professional troublemakers. This week, we’re sharing my interview with one of my besties, Bozoma Saint John.

Though she’s now the Chief Marketing Officer for Netflix, at the time of this interview Boz had just left Uber and was taking on a new role as Endeavor’s Chief Marketing Officer. We talk about why she must bring unfiltered #NoirPixieDust into boardrooms and how she made her own lane at brands including Pepsi, Apple, Uber and Endeavor and why bringing her real self into the C-Suite gives her an edge. Boz also shares why there’s no room for imposter syndrome in her life and why she’s her own biggest supporter.

We talk about how she needs to make sure she brings her whole self to these corporate spaces. Instead of choosing to play small and shrink, she needs to bring her whole self to the table to be the best at the job she’s been hired to do.

Let us know what your favorite interview has been from our past archive, and check back next week for a new interview!

Follow Boz on social media – she’s got a lot of great stuff in the works, including a new book that is coming out next year. She’s @BadAssBozΒ on Instagram andΒ on Twitter, and be sure to tag her when you share this episode and let her know you loved it.

I’m my biggest cheerleader, my biggest advocate.

There’s no one else in the world who can make me feel better than myself.

β€”Bozoma Saint John

I wasn’t able to bring the best of myself unless

I was bringing my whole self

because that’s really what the best is.

β€”Bozoma Saint John

All that glitters is not gold. It’s blood. It’s tears. It’s sweat.

My glitter is made up of pain, sacrifice and hard work.
